Hello Parents Evening.

Parents evening is not a straight forward event that I honestly look forward to. Now the Morris Minors are generally well behaved kids and have huge hearts but they also have 50 % of my DNA which also makes them unpredictable, hot headed and stubborn

I don’t think I sometimes help the whole situation as I’m not an ‘easy parent.’ I whole heartedly agree with giving kids structure and guidelines I also highly agree with kids being disciplined for their wrong doings and ensuring they have a solid sense of right from wrong BUT I also believe in free spirits, self expression and learning at your own pace.

Fortunately for us, the teachers the kids have seem to have a good grasp of what makes them tick so my general questions and appology list was shorter than usual this time round.

Dear Miss, this term I am sorry for the following:

  • That I have on many occasions let Alfie attend school wearing a Michael Jackson Wig, Glove and Leather Jacket.
  • That I didn’t check his homework before he handed it in, and then it was too late to rectify that he had written all over it “Alfie DOES NOT Want To Do His Homework”
  • I am truly sorry Amelia has come into school crying (most days) because I haven’t taken her latest breakdown seriously and left you to pick up the pieces.
  • I apologise for regularly forgetting all the letters that you send and then you having to call me 15 times to chase me.
  • I am aware of what the school uniform requirements are but after losing the 5th logoed school jumper in 4 weeks my mental health and bank balance needed a break so we free styled it for a bit.
  • Amelia’s hair bows – they are huge, obscene and not school colours, do you think if I had a choice I would let her wear them? I know they are hideous BUT last time I checked they don’t effect her ability to learn.

Each day we just do the best we can to get through the day, we do our best to be kind, thoughtful, generous and loving, we may not always get it right but always know, we always try.

What more can you ask for from your kids and selves.
